5th September 2006:
RAY D’ARCY’S MARATHON CHALLENGE
The Dublin City Marathon takes places on Monday 30th October and this year Today FM’s Ray D’Arcy has decided to blow the cobwebs off his runners and run all 26 miles of it in aid of the Little Star Fund.
Ray will be running in aid of the Little Star Fund and he wants his listeners to sponsor him! But this is sponsorship with a twist. By sponsoring Ray, not only will listeners be helping a very worthwhile charity but they could also be in with a chance of running away with €5,000!
Ray has asked his listeners to guess how long it will take him to complete the marathon and to text their answers in to a premium rate number. Each text will be charged at €1.25 with €1 from every text going to the Little Star Fund.
Ray does all the hard work – listeners just have to use their thumb to text while Ray has to use his legs over and over…and over again!
So how long will it take a 42 year old man to run 26 miles on fairly level terrain in medium-bad conditions? To have your say all you have to do is text RAY followed by your guess in hours, minutes and seconds to 57082
Ray will be running in aid of the Little Star Fund - a campaign formed to aid four of Ireland’s largest children’s charities; Temple Street Children’s Hospital, The National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght, Our Lady’s Hospital for Children, Crumlin and Barretstown. €1 from every text to this competition is guaranteed to go to the Little Star Fund.
